Answer
Disclaimer
Please note that the accuracy and performance of the LIDAR tool within the Mitigate mobile application are contingent upon the capabilities of the LIDAR functionality integrated into your specific phone or tablet device. While Mitigate utilizes this technology to greatly enhance room sketching, its effectiveness may vary based on the hardware limitations of your device. You may still need to make small adjustments to your sketch after scanning by using the "Calibrate" feature to enter exact measurements for a specific wall or two.
Tip
The "Calibration" feature will allow you to enter the exact measurements for one wall, then all the other walls scanned during that sketching session will be updated by the same amount. Even for other rooms; if you scanned multiple rooms at the same time.
The phone and tablet models that current have LIDAR capability are: Pro and Pro Max models of the iPhone 12, 13, 14, and 15, 16 as well as the third-generation 11-inch and fifth-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro models from 2020 and later. No android devices have this capability at this time (as of Spring 2024)
To access the room scanner tool:
- Navigate to the loss in Mitigate
- Scroll down to the Floor Plan card
- Click on the cube icon to launch the room scanner
- The Mitigate Scanner app will launch (or prompt for download if you do not already have it installed). NOTE: the Mitigate Scanner app will not work if the Mitigate app is not installed on your mobile device
