Job Costing securities

Question

  • How can I allow an employee/user to Add but not Edit Job Costing items (payroll, timesheets, etc)?
  • How can I allow an employee/user to view but not edit, add, or delete Job Costing?
  • How can I prevent a user from viewing/accessing payroll information within Job Costing > Labor or Job Costing > Timesheet Reconciliation

Answer

There are two different types of Job Costing securities. One security controls ACCESS to the Job Costing pages (Labor and Timesheet Reconciliation) and the other security controls EDITING RIGHTS of the Job Costing pages. See the sections below for more information

Job Costing View Access

NOTE: if you want a user/employee to be able to SEE the job costing pages but you need to restrict their add, edit, delete access, see the section below (Job Costing Add/Edit/Delete)

Want to prevent a user from being able to view any information on the Job Costing and/or Timesheet Reconciliation pages? Follow the steps below:

  1. Hover over Administration in your DASH environment > select Employee/Security Settings
  2. Within the Employee/Security Settings page, select Security (or Group Security if your DASH environment does not have a Security option)
  3. Choose the employee/user that you want to edit in the upper-right hand corner of the page (or their Job Title if you are in Group Securities)

  4. Expand Accounting
  5. Expand Job Costing

  6. Uncheck Labor and/or Timesheet Reconciliation
