Job statuses in DASH

Question

  • What controls job statuses in DASH?
  • How to move a job from one status to another?
  • What triggers job statuses to change?
  • Can I undo / reverse a job status change?

Answer

Job Statuses are controlled by updating the dates on jobs in DASH.

For instance, key dates such as "Date Started," "Date of Work Authorization", and "Date Invoiced" signify milestones in a job's lifecycle and are each associated with a different status after they are entered. Depending on when these dates are reached or updated in DASH, the job status automatically updates accordingly. Date updates are often triggered by compliance tasks or once something is added to the job, this automation helps streamline workflow management and ensures that stakeholders are informed about the current state of each job without having to manually change the job status each time.

See this Job Dates cheat sheet for an overview of which dates trigger which job statuses.

Reverting a Job Status

Mistakes happen! Sometimes something is triggered on the job or a date is added erroneously which changes the job status. This can be undone by following the steps below:

  1. Remove the date that caused the unwanted job status update (see cheat sheet link for more info on which dates control which statuses).
  2. The instructions in step #1 should update the status, but if it does not, you may need to remove and re-add the date that triggered the status you WANT the job to be at (ex: you want the job to be back at Work in Progress so you will remove then re-add Date Started according to the cheat sheet).
