Updating a username in DASH

Question

  • Can I update a username in DASH?
  • I am unable to update a username in DASH
  • How do I update a username in DASH?
  • How to edit a user ID in DASH?

Answer

Due to data integrity reasons, you cannot change a username once it has been created in DASH. However, if it is necessary to do so, you can create a new profile with a new username. Follow the instructions below to create a new profile with the desired username:

  1. Navigate to the existing profile and change the email to a false email (ex: 1234@test.com) so that you can create a new profile without conflicting emails.
  2. Save the changes then go to the bottom right corner of the profile to select the deactivation option.
  3. Save again to deactivate the old profile.
  4. Now you can create a new profile with the desired username.
  5. Once the new profile is created you will want to check the following:
    • Configure their email settings - see this page for more information on configuring email settings: Email configuration settings (IMAP)
    • Ensure their user profile is filled out. Job Title & Payroll Details are important if you use Timesheets in DASH or if you have an accounting integration
    • User preferences like Time Zone should be updated as well
    • If the old user profile was associated with any jobs as an internal participant, you may want to mass update those to the new user profile. See this page on how to use the "Mass Assignment for Jobs" feature in DASH - Mass assigning internal participants
