Unable to edit a document in DASH

Question

  • Why am I unable to edit a document generator document?
  • How to make edits to a document after it has been marked Ready for Signature?



Answer

Has the document been marked “Ready for Signature” by the Responsible Editor?

Marking a document "Ready for Signature" will lock down the document from any future edits and will activate the Signature Fields which are included in the template.


If you made a mistake and need to edit the document before it is signed, you can un-associate the document from the document bucket on the job, then re-add it and try again:

  1. Navigate to the job where the document is attached
  2. Click on the documents tab at the bottom of the job page
  3. Click on the "Manage Job Documents" button at the top of the Documents tab
  4. Locate the document from the list and click on the "Unassociate" button 
  5. Now, you will need to re-attach the document.
  6. From there, the Responsible Editor can re-fill out any form fields and make any edits that they need.
