Question
- Why do I see null listed in my reports in BI?
- How can I change the report to not say null?
- I want my report to show $0 instead of null
- Why are some of my columns empty or showing no data?
Answer
Some fields/values in BI will display as null or will be blank by default if there is no value or if the data is missing from your job.
For example: Total Estimates will display as null if there are no estimates added to the job (see image below)
If you would like to display a 0 or a $0 value instead of null or a blank cell, you can simply edit the formatting of the field as a number or dollar value format, follow the steps below in Configuration Mode:
- Click on the column/field (that is blank or null) in configuration mode
- Click on the Field Properties tab on the right-hand properties menu
- Click on Alternative Text
- Then enter in a value (ex: 0 or $0.00) in the alternative text column for [NULL] value or [BLANK]
