Issue
- BI Report shows duplicate jobs
- Duplicate data displayed in BI report
- Duplicate names in BI
Solution
There are a few factors that can cause duplicates to appear on a BI report:
Some data sources in BI overlap and can show up from multiple data inputs. However, you can adjust your report so that there is only a single value represented for a data source rather than repeating the information drawn from multiple sources.
- Navigate to the BI report in your DASH environment
- Select Edit while in Design Mode for the report
- Click on the Data Source tab on the left sidebar
- Once there select the "Distinct" checkbox and save the Report.
- That will stop the report from pulling duplicate jobs when it's pulling from sources
Evaluate the data sources that you are using. Some of them can cause redundant information in your report.
- For example, if you wanted to see Total Estimate data, you might add the data source titled Estimates. However, that will cause you to see a breakdown of every estimate for each job, and not just aggregated estimate totals. Estimate totals can instead be found under the Accounting Information data source.
- Tip: the three data sources that will typically get you most of what you need are: Accounting Information, Job Information, Job Dates. Start with those to see if they have what you need and then add any additional data sources from there.
Duplicate names will appear if you have multiple divisions for that person (or multiple jobs/claims). Make sure to add a job number to your reports so that you can identify each job more easily (see image below)
