Activating Multi-Factor Authentication for DASH

Security Hierarchy

The security settings provide users with the flexibility to either enforce Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) or make it optional. 


MFA in DASH can be activated or enforced at four levels:

  1. Franchisor Level – Enforced for all franchisees; companies cannot opt out. 
  2. Company Level – Applies to all users and offices within the company.
  3. Office Level – Applies to all users within a specific office.
  4. User Level – Individual users can enable MFA for their own accounts.


Note: If MFA is enabled at a higher level (such as franchisor, company, or office) it becomes mandatory for all levels below and cannot be disabled at those lower levels.




Activating MFA in DASH

  1. NOTE: if your company is part of a franchise that uses Administer, your franchise headquarters will first need to enable MFA inside Administer.
  2. There are a few options for how you can enable MFA:
    1. Company Level (required for offices and their users in a shared company ID): navigate to Administration > Default Documentation Settings > scroll down to the MFA settings section to enable/disable at the company level.
    2. Office Level (required for all users in an office location: navigate to Administration > Default Documentation Settings > scroll down to the MFA settings section to enable/disable at the office level.
    3. User Level (applies to specific user account): navigate to Administration > Employee / Security Settings > locate the "Is MFA Enabled" section where you can toggle or un-toggle MFA
