Overview
OAuth ("Open Authorization") is a method of connecting Outlook to your DASH environment. Follow the steps below to configure these settings and use the outgoing email features in DASH.
Setup
- Hover over Administration - located on the blue navigation ribbon in your DASH environment
- Click on Employee / Security Settings from the drop-down
- Locate the name from the list and click Edit
- Enter in your email address and name
- Click Switch to OAuth (if the button says "Switch to Basic Authentication" then OAuth is already enabled)
- Choose "Microsoft [IMAP]" from the email provider drop-down and click Save
- Upon clicking Save, a new tab should open in your browser prompting you to log into your Microsoft/Outlook email account
- Click "Sign in with Microsoft"
- Once you've successfully logged in, your Microsoft Outlook email account will be integrated with your DASH user account.
Enabling Authentication
Once you have set up your OAuth connection in DASH follow the instructions in this article to ensure that you have modern authentication enabled for your Outlook/Microsoft email account. Enabling SMTP in Outlook (required)

- Open the Microsoft 365 admin center and go to Users > Active users.
- Select the user, and in the popout that appears, click Mail.
- In the Email apps section, click Manage email apps.
- Verify the Authenticated SMTP setting: unchecked = disabled, checked = enabled.
