Burden for DASH Account 4 (QBO)

Question

  • How can I track employee costs to the company with DASH Account 4 (insurance, workers compensation, cell phone, fuel, vehicle expenses, etc)?
  • How can I set up Burden calculations for the DASH Account 4 sync with QuickBooks Online?

Overview

Labor burden is the actual cost of a company to have an employee, aside from the salary the employee earns

Labor burden costs include benefits that a company must, or chooses to, pay for employees included on their payroll.

Intuit only provides select information to DASH through the integration with DASH Account 4 (DA4). When payroll is run through QuickBooks Online (QBO), extra costs like taxes and withholdings will not sync to DASH. Because of this, you will need to set up a burden rate within NGS to make sure costs over the standard hour rate are included when calculating total labor costs per job.

Burden can be set up in one of two ways:

  1. Within the employee's profile under Administration > Employee
    • If you leave the burden blank on the employee profile, the amount will be calculated based on what is set for the employee's job title within Default Documentation Standards.

  2. Within Administration > Default Documentation Standards based on job title
    • Payroll % is the field that should be filled out, not Time Card %
    • Make sure the employee has a job title set on their profile within Admin > Employee. Then make sure that the job title has an associated Burden under Administration > Default Documentation Standards.

See the DASH Account 4 manual for information on Burden setup: DA4 and QBO Manual.
