Journal Entries with DASH Account 3

Overview

Journal Entries can only be synced into DASH as Labor it cannot be used for any other financial items.

This is an alternative to paychecks if your company does not generate employee paychecks in QuickBooks (QB) and uses another payroll software. General Journal entries can be seen in the Job Cost Report from QB.

General Journal Entries rules

  1. The journal entry must show up on the “Income by Customer Detail” report in QBS and contain the phrase “job labor” or “job labour” in the memo field. The memo can contain more words before or after the phrase, but it must contain one of those phrases as listed above (no extra space between the words). Using the memo field in this manner will allow for the timesheet (temporary labor) entry to be replaced with the Actual Labor Cost in the Labor section of the NGS job.
  2. The General Journal Entry used to allocate the payroll cost to the job must be posted in a specific order to work properly in DASH. The credit part of the entry MUST be posted first or QB will not appropriately title the entry for DASH purposes. It only needs to be on one line. The logic only works if it is created in this manner.
  3. The account name associated with the transaction should have the word "Payroll" - see the image below. The costs are debits and will go into job costs and will be categorized as labor since the account name after the last semicolon contains the word payroll (5001.1 Regular Payroll).

Please be aware that if a burden $ amount is desired when using the journal entry method for job labor costs, you will need to have a separate item for the burden amount that contains the words “job labor”.
