- QuickBooks already has a company file open. If you want to open another company file. Close this one first
Solution
This error typically occurs when you have multiple instances of QuickBooks Desktop open on your machine. Try the follow steps to resolve the issue:
- Close down all instances of QB
- Go to your PC start menu and type in Task Manager
- Find all instances of the QB application and close them in the Task Manager
- Try to run a test import or export to see if the popup occurs again
