Re-integrating QuickBooks Desktop and DASH Account 3

Overview

Sometimes the connection between DASH Account 3 and QuickBooks can get disconnected. This can happen for a number of reasons:

  • An update is made to QuickBooks
  • QuickBooks removes the integration
  • The location of the QuickBooks file path is moved

Re-integrate your QuickBooks and DA3

This is a warning callout

Re-integration requires you to log into QuickBooks Desktop as the Admin user and then go into Single-User Mode.

If you only have DASH Account 3 Import (DASH > QBD) set up on your machine, then you DO NOT need to do this for Export (QBD > DASH) too. However, if you have both, you will need to follow these steps for both Import and Export.

Re-integrating (steps for both Import and Export):

  1. Log into QuickBooks Desktop (QBD) as the Admin user and go into Single-User Mode.
    • To go into Single-User Mode in QBD, go to File > Switch to Single-user Mode.
  2. Once in Single-user Mode within QBD, go to Edit > Preferences > Integrated Applications and remove the integrated applications “QuickBooks Data Import” (aka DA3 Import) and/or “QuickBooks Data Export” (aka DA3 Export). Remove one or both depending on which features of DA3 you have set up on your machine.
  3. Open your DASH Account 3 console and click on View Logs

  4. This will open the computer's file finder where the Import and Export logs are stored. Click on the word "DASH Account" in the file path to go up one file in the directory and access the main DASH Account folder.

  5. Open "QBImport.exe" (aka DA3 Import) and/or "QBExport.exe" (DA3 Export) - depending on which features of DA3 you have set up on your machine. I.e. if another person in your company runs the DASH Account 3 Export you DO NOT need to reintegrate for Export on your machine. If you run both Export and Import on your machine, follow these steps for both.
  6. Within QBImport and/or QBExport select Edit > QB Company File Options.
  7. Pull QuickBooks Desktop back up and press the F2 button on your keyboard while you are in QuickBooks. Grab the QB file path (see image below)

  8. Open the QBImport or QBExport window again and paste the file path in the file path field.
  9. Click the "Copy From QB" button - this will cause a pop-up in QB to re-establish the connection that will look similar to the one pictured below.

  10. Choose the option Yes, always; allow access even if QuickBooks is not running. Login as:
  11. Choose the Admin user from the dropdown. NOTE: If you do not have an "Admin" user in QBD, choose a user who has full admin access.
  12. Check the box for Allow this application to access...
  13. Click Continue..
  14. There will be a few additional popups. Choose the affirmative.
  15. Repeat starting at step #2 if you use both Import and Export.
