The MICA™ mobile application is reaching its official end-of-life and will be retired on Monday, October 5th 2026. This article is everything you need to know about transitioning from MICA™ to Cotality™ Mitigate™.
- What is changing?
- The legacy MICA mobile application is reaching its official end-of-life and will be retired. All active users are upgrading to our current, fully supported field application, Cotality Mitigate. Cotality Mitigate is the modern, fully redesigned evolution of the MICA mobile app. Both applications communicate with the exact same secure backend cloud servers, meaning your historical project records, settings, and cloud environment remain completely unchanged.
- Why is the transition happening now?
- Cotality Mitigate was launched two years ago to replace the aging MICA platform and has already been widely adopted across our restoration networks. The legacy MICA app has not received software updates since 2023. Retiring the older app ensures our development and customer support teams can focus 100% of our resources on maintaining a single, top-tier application packed with modern functionality.
- What are the direct operational benefits of moving to Cotality Mitigate?
- Cotality Mitigate features an optimized, high-speed user interface engineered specifically to solve modern field data collection challenges and aligns more closely with the realities of the water mitigation process. By transitioning to Cotality Mitigate, your technicians can capture field documentation significantly faster on the job site—directly reducing cycle times, accelerating file approvals, and getting your claims processed much quicker.
- How will my team be kept informed about the impending MICA sunset?
- Automated countdown reminders were and will be distributed to active users via bulk email intervals at fixed 90, 60, 30, 14, 7, and 1-day markers. Additionally, field technicians will see a clear, daily descending countdown banner directly within the legacy mobile app layout whenever they upload a project.
- What steps does my company have to take?
- Upgrading is simple and can be completed in these rapid steps:
- Finish your in-flight jobs in MICA and upload to the cloud.
- Delete the MICA application from your device.
- Open the app store on your mobile device, search for Mitigate, and download the app.
- Log in using your existing MICA username and password.
- Immediately begin logging your active projects within the new Cotality Mitigate interface. Though optional, we recommend taking the Mitigate training in the Cotality Learning Community.
- Upgrading is simple and can be completed in these rapid steps:
- Is there an automated data migration required?
- No account or data migration is necessary. Because your cloud profile remains the same, your team will see all active, synchronized project files instantly upon logging into the Cotality Mitigate app.
- What is the most critical safety step for my field technicians before making the switch?
You must upload all active local projects to the cloud before logging out of MICA.
Because both mobile applications support offline work, any job data saved locally on a phone or tablet does not exist on our central servers until a sync is performed. To protect your documentation from permanent data loss, verify that your field technicians have synchronized all open files before uninstalling the MICA app.
